This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use HoopsResults (the “Service”), including creating an account, tracking games/programs/conferences, and receiving email digests.

2) Information we collect

A. Information you provide

  • Account information: full name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), and selected role (e.g., coach/fan/media/player).
  • Optional profile details: program/organization name (if provided).
  • Preferences: timezone selection and digest preferences (e.g., enabled/disabled, include boxscores).
  • Tracked items: games, teams/programs, and conferences you choose to follow (including related metadata you save).
  • Support and communications: information you include when contacting us.

B. Information we collect automatically

  • Authentication and cookies: we use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in.
  • Basic technical data: such as IP address, device/browser information, and logs generated when you access the Service (typically provided by our hosting and infrastructure providers).

C. Information from third parties

  • Sports data: the Service fetches public NCAA scoreboard/game information. This data is not about you, but about games/teams/conferences.

3) How we use information

  • Provide and operate the Service (accounts, login, tracking, settings)
  • Send account-related messages (verification emails, password reset emails)
  • Send daily digests and other notifications you enable
  • Maintain security, prevent fraud/abuse, and debug issues
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

4) How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

  • With service providers that help us run the Service (processing data on our behalf), such as email delivery, database/storage, and hosting/infrastructure providers.
  • For legal and safety reasons (e.g., to comply with law or protect users and the Service).

5) Email and notifications

If you enable digests, we’ll email you summaries based on your tracked items. You can disable digests in settings. We also send transactional emails for account verification and password resets.

We use cookies (and similar technologies) primarily for authentication and session management. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may prevent you from signing in or using certain features.

7) Data retention

We keep personal information as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes (including security and troubleshooting). You can delete your account within the Service; we then delete or de-identify information as appropriate, subject to legal retention requirements.

8) Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by contacting support@hoopsresults.com. You can also update certain details in settings and disable digest emails.

9) California privacy notice (CCPA/CPRA)

This section applies to California residents.

A. Categories of personal information collected

  • Identifiers: name, email address, IP address, account identifiers.
  • Account/security information: password hash, verification/reset tokens and timestamps.
  • Commercial information: none currently (no payments/subscriptions at this time).
  • Internet/electronic activity: authentication/session activity and basic logs.
  • Inferences: none used for advertising; we may infer preferences from your settings (e.g., timezone/digest on/off).

B. Purposes

We collect and use the categories above to operate the Service, provide account functionality, send requested emails, maintain security, and improve reliability.

C. Selling/sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising

We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

D. Sensitive personal information

We do not use or disclose “sensitive personal information” for purposes requiring a “Limit the Use” link under CPRA. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes.

E. Your California rights

Subject to certain exceptions, you may have the right to know/access, delete, and correct personal information. To exercise these rights, email support@hoopsresults.com. We will verify your request (typically via your account email).

10) Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” and may provide additional notice where required.
